Safe zone guide

The TikTok safe zone guide for editors who want one frame that survives review.

Use these measurements when subtitles, profile chrome, and CTA layers all need room in the same vertical frame.

Core measurements

Keep these four clear zones in view before you place subtitles, labels, or buttons.

AreaSpaceWhy it matters
Header strip126 pxLeave for the app header and top profile layer.
Caption-safe block246 pxBest home for subtitles and lower-third labels.
Side margin60 pxStops text from feeling crowded on small phones.
Bottom strip108 pxReserve for action icons and caption drawer motion.

Check the frame with the real subject and the real subtitle style already turned on. If the face sits too high, the top bar crowds it. If the copy sits too low, the caption drawer wins. None of that shows up on a blank artboard.

My default habit is to approve the frame with the loudest scene in the cut. If the busy scene still reads cleanly inside the safe bands, the quieter scenes usually take care of themselves.
